Frequently Asked Questions

Kratom River is a brand of kratom and kava products, offered as gummies, shots and tablets. Kratom River is owned by River Botanicals.

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a tropical tree in the coffee family, native to Southeast Asia. Its leaves have been used there for generations.

Kava (Piper methysticum) is a plant in the pepper family, native to the South Pacific islands such as Fiji, Vanuatu and Tonga. Its root has been prepared as a traditional drink there for centuries and is still shared at ceremonies and social gatherings.

They are two different plants. Kratom comes from the leaves of a Southeast Asian tree in the coffee family, and its main naturally occurring compounds are alkaloids such as mitragynine. Kava comes from the root of a South Pacific plant in the pepper family, and its main compounds are kavalactones such as kavain.

Noble kava refers to the kava varieties traditionally used for everyday drinking in the South Pacific. It is set apart from tudei, or "two-day", varieties, which are generally not used for regular consumption.

Both are naturally earthy and slightly bitter, and kava has a peppery note.

Keep them sealed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children and pets.

Kratom River is owned by River Botanicals, our holding company. River Botanicals oversees the business from a distance and does not sell products of its own. Kratom River runs as its own business, with its own products and its own store.
